What is his Philosophy?

I took my first Philosophy class last semester and my response, "What the hell?" I mean right from the start the teacher made the class purchase two books totaling around $100 and we didnt use one and the other was barely touched. He was barely understandable, created his own words and had no idea what he was doing. He spent the majority of the class staring into space thinking of something that sounded mystical enough to say. Unfortunately not to be mean nothing sounded mystcal or enlightening coming from him.

When mid-terms came everybody thought they did good since nearly everyone studied from the textbook and I mean come on its Philosophy, basically is is a class to teach how to "bs". So to write "bs" should get you a good grade but to write someone else's "bs" should get you a better grade. Well it didnt, the majority of the class failed and the grades were thrown out.

When the end of the term was approaching he told us he would be assigning an 8 page paper in place of a final. This all shocked us since he barely gave any work so this was just a shock and we managed to talk him down to six. Oh I forgot to mention he didnt give a syllabus until two weeks into the class which did not include any information on a final paper. And to add to it he changed every date on the paper for the tests.

Now here is what had me hysterical laughing, the topic for the paper, "What is mind?" Immediatly my eye-brow raised and I am saying to myself "How the hell do you write that?" and nearly everyone else was doing the same. So I am just assuming to "bs" six pages on what mind is. Well I do it and hand it in and here nothing until the class beforethe final, yes thats right he still gave a final. For the class before the final he asks to see me agt the end of class. He tells me that I was suppose to use the text book as a guideline for the question "What is mind?" and my excuse was that he did not say nor list the textbook to be used on the board or have anything in the syllabus for the term paper. He asks me if I can re-write it and I in turn looked at him like he had ten heads and told him "How do to expect me to do it when this is our last class, especiall 6 pages worth?" and his response is "Oh ok, you will be showing up for the final correct?" I gave him the same look and told him "Yes" and asking myself "Who the hell wouldnt?"

Now with the final I quoted answers right from the text book, did not get a grade for the final but I can assume it was low for my final grade was but I will come back to that. All my friends quoted from the textbook as well. I also want to mention that I attended every class and handed in every piece of work and also worked with my friends in the class on everything. Also I did not partcipate anymore then my friends which was not at all. Also I want to mention that in several classes he claims that he does not use the text book for his work. Which is why my mid-term and my final seems to have been marked all wrong and I guess I got the question "What is mind?" horribly wrong since my final grade was a C- which I know for a fact was wrong. By the way all my friends recieved Bs.

Now I sent him a letter asking how he calcualted such a grade since I did all my work, attended every class, participated no more then my friends and they all recieved Bs while I recived a C-. Two weeks after I sent him the letter my grade was changed to a C+ and he claimed it was a typo. Now I know for a fact that is "bs" since I know I deserved a B. He just saw it easier to change it to a C+ and blame it on a typo since to change it to a B would seem strange and hard to blame on a typo. He figured this little treat would shut me up. Well I ward everyone away from his class, I have complained about him to the school and have told people dont waste their money on the book for his class either.

Now with the second term I ended up in his class again so I had to drop it messing up my entire schedule giving me a single three hour class on Monday at night which as I said really messed everything up. Now that three hour class, the teacher was listed as "TBA" so I had no idea until I walked in if I had this guy or not in which case once again I would need to drop/transfer. I told myself "If he walks in, I'm walking out." I would go the the freshman center the next day and deman a transfer and if they deny then I want my grade for his last class re-examined. I was even tempted to walk up to him in the middle of the class and say "Ok here is how its going to go, I did all my work, attended every class and did no more or less then my fellow classmates and recieved a C- while they recived Bs. This semester I intend to not show up to class, not do a damn thing in your class and I should get a pretty good grade. Your a Philosophy teacher, isnt that how it works. When you do what your suppose to and asked and recieve garbage for it, do the opposite and see what that gets you?" I was even hoping he would walk in because I now loathe this teacher with a passion.

Either fortunately or unfortunately he was not my teacher and I decided to stick with my three hour class.
